I know I promised everyone I would blog, and now I'm finally starting. So yay!
We just arrived in Lebanon and will be staying here for two days to work on houses. So, since it's so early, some of us decided to take a detour to Dartmouth and use the library! Also, I hope to go play in their tanks (because I've never had the pleasure) because one of the riders is a former Dartmouth Rower.
So far the rides have been really awesome. We started out with the tire dip in New Castle, NH. From there I got to take a two mile detour to Maine!!! We just crossed the border and took a picture at the sign, but who doesn't love Maine?!
Our Ride (after the 6 mile ride to the beach) was only about 55 miles, but there were some nice hills, so that was a nice shock after the flatness of the Delta. The mile (plus) of dirt/sand road also made for an interesting ride, which unfortunately, I had to walk a couple feet of.. the sand was too much for me (I wasn't the only one!).
Along the way, Craig and I met an awesome woman, Dottie, who lived a few miles down the dirt road (where it was paved again). She assured us we were going the right way and made some very generous donations. (Including peanut butter!) Since Craig and I could not carry the butter, so she was super awesome and followed bikers until she met us at the church in Concord to give us food!
Yesterday I was the sweep. Which was really fun! Erik and I road at the end of the group to make sure everyone made all the turns and no injuries. It was fun to take a nice relaxing ride at the end. We got to stop at a flee market, where we found several bow and arrows for the September hunting season! I also found an awesome "Nixon: He's the one pin" from a convention, but I had $2 and the guy started his haggling at $15, so no go on that! Then there was an open house at a Firehouse, so we got to dress up like fireman and sit in the truck (they wouldn't let me drive it).
Today we road from New London to Lebanon. And it rained.... quite a bit. So I got to break out the Neon yellow/reflective rain jacket! We also got to see some awesome creeks/lakes/really fun winding roads with hills! And lots of Moose Crossing signs... but no Moose. Maybe I'll see one before we leave New England.
So after the rain, it's a beautiful afternoon to enjoy! And hopefully I'll get to hang out with Katie before we leave!
